At Southside we believe:
□ the Bible is
the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
□ God offers
everyone salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
□ the Bible
teaches that our response in faith includes repenting of our sin, confessing
Christ, and being baptized (immersion) (Acts 2:38, Romans 6).
□ all Christians
are part of the Body of Christ (the Church) and are directed by the Scriptures
to identify and associate themselves with a local church church body (Hebrews
10:23-25)
□ as part of the
Body of Christ each believer is given a ministry for the enrichment and
edification of others in the church (Ephesians 4:11-16).
Guided by the Bible, we believe it is essential that all who
seek
membership confess Christ as Lord and be
obedient to him unto the New Testament form of baptism (immersion in water-Acts
2:38, Acts 8:26-40, Romans 6:1-7).
If you have already been immersed and would like to call Southside Christian
Church your church home, we would be happy to talk with you about our
congregation and our ministry. Those
already immersed are asked to make their intention publicly (usually during a
morning worship service) and to join the congregation in the Good Confession
(Matthew 16:13-20).
Since we seek Christian unity based in the Scriptures, we do
seek
fellowship with all believers.
If you have not been immersed we hope that you will seek out the teaching
of the Scriptures in this matter as you fellowship and study God’s word with us.
We do not bar non-immmersed believers from the Lord’s Supper, church
activities, fellowship and certain service opportunities.
